A song part-remembered, part invented, drifts across a collaged American horizon paired down to luminous color and texture. Landscape, within and without, passes over a slumped and shrouded form at the foot of the frame. Talismans hang around it.
In January 19, 2017, Wall presents us with a constantly shifting scale of the interior and exterior, wherein the body is seen as land and land as body. Employing an improvised oral tradition, she devises a ritual; the locus of which is loss. Mapping this sorrow on the human form she magnifies the dread and implications surrounding the looming inauguration.
