| Kendall Glover’s collages and carved sculptures draw from numerous historical and architectural sources encountered across travels and past employment at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Through meticulous considerations of formal elements and their abstraction, Glover probes the enduring power of the iconic; how is it that it can arouse us even when removed from context? Glover aims to find out through an almost fanatical process of trial and error, the results of which are both as familiar and mysterious as their predecessors. Having compiled a personal lexicon of forms, she reiterates its components in a dizzying array as she subtly shifts form, composition and texture. These works, glyph-like, speak their own language, possess a power and sensuality all their own. |
